We are both brother and sister. We go to school to study. Our ages are 12 and 10 years. We love Shri Thakorji very much and we have kept him in a cupboard in our room. Since we go to morning school, we play with Shri Thakorji in the afternoon. Our parents say: You cannot play with Thakorji like this, you must do seva. Uncle, please tell us, how children like us can do Thakorji's seva?

Old and young alike can do Shri Thakorji's seva. We are Vaishnavs. You may have taken Brahma-Sambandh. If so, then such Vaishnavs can do Shri Thakorji's seva. A Vaishnav who takes Brahmasambandh, promises Shri Thakorji that he will do his seva. So we must abide by that promise.

First, with your mother's help, you must acquire small 'gadi'(mattress), pillows, a small bed to sleep on, a mattress, sheet, pillows etc for seva. You must keep all this ready. All this is available in ready and complete. After this you must go with your mother to Gurudev. Have your favorite picture of Shri Nathji framed and take it with you. When your guruji makes it 'sevya' you do seva.

We want to do Shri Thakorji's seva, but we cannot do only Chitraji's seva. You can feed your friend, but you cannot feed his picture. When your gurudev, from within his heart, put Shri Thakorji's swarup into the picture then it does not remain only a picture. Shri Thakorji himself is in that picture. Hence we are not doing the picture's seva but are doing Shri Thakorji's seva. If Shri Thakorji is not in that picture, then how can we do seva? So it is important to make the 'Chirtraji' picture 'sevya' by Gurudev and then do seva.

You must have a full bath and become clean. You must wear the clean clothes that you have put aside the previous day. Then you must comb your hair and take 'charanamrut'. This charanamrut must be applied on both eyes, throat and chest. It must also be put in the mouth. Then with prasadi kumkum you must make a 'U' - shaped tilak on your forehead. After making a tilak, you must wash your hands thoroughly. It is only after doing this that you must do seva.

In order to let the air circulate for Shri Thakorji, a small cupboard with small grills must be kept in the room. With your mother's help, you must make the necessary arrangements. You must keep a boxful of rock sugar to serve as 'bhog' to Shri Thakorji, everyday. To do seva, you must wash your hands and then arrange the pillows and mattress neatly for Shri Thakorji. You must fill a small 'Katori' with sugar and place it near the gadi. Then clap your hands thrice, to wake up Shri Thakorji. Then you must remove the sheet covering Shri Thakorji. Then you must dress him with vagha (specially designed clothes) and gently place him on the 'gadi' mattress, and then with joined plams entreat say 'With Shri Mahaprabhuji's request, please accept my bhog.' Then you must recite 'path' (e.g. stotra, mangalacharan etc). However, if you cannot recite from memory then you can read from the book. Be sure to learn these recitations from your parents. Then you must do one 'jap' mala of 'ashtakshar' (108 beads). Then you must take away the bhog and make Shri Thakorji wear another 'vagha'. Then you must make him wear a 'gunjamala' and 'bansi' - flute. This being done, you must offer another bhog and remove the 'vastra -mala' from Shri Thakorji. Having done this put Shri Thakorji to sleep again on his bed.

Children like you, can easily do so much seva in 10 minutes. Whatever you eat or drink during the course of the day, can mix a little prasadi-sugar in it and then have it. This is the least that you can do.
