Shri Vithalnathji

Shri Vithalnathji Shri Vithalnathji's Sevya Swaroop - Shri Navneetpriyaji

Shri Vithalnathji is the second jewel of Shri Vallabh and Shri Laxmiji (Akaji).

[ (The story goes back to SHRI VALLABH on His second yatra, he visited Pandharpur, on the bank of river Bhimrathi, is the temple of SHRI VITHALNATHJI (VITHOBA). This temple of SHRI KRISHNA is very famous because SHRI KRISHNA along with His wife SHRI RUKMANJI came here to grace His Bhakt (devotee) Pundalik who was busy serving his old parents and did not have time to go and have Dharshan.

This Swaroop of SHRI VITHALNATHJI, took the form of SHRINATHJI appeared before Shri Vallabh and said to him "shun Brahmachrariya and accept Grashtashram and I will be born as your son."

SHRI VALLABH returned to Kashi, where Devan Bhatt approached Him and offered his only daughter SHRI MAHALAKSHMI'S hand in marriage, (he [Devan Bhatt] was also ordered by SHRI VITHALNATHJI).

The traditional wedding ceremony of SHRI VALLABH was performed in Kashi, home town of SHRI MAHALAKSHMIJI. ]

Shri Vithalnathji is born in vs 1572 in Charnart on Pocsh Krishna 9th, Wednesday. On this auspious day a Brahmin came looking for Shri Vallabh, when he met Shri Vallabh, he narrated "on the banks of river Ganga while bathing he came across a beautiful Swaroop of Thakurji, who ordered him to worship Him (Thakurji) for some time and then take Him to wherever He ordered.” The day had come when this Swaroop wanted to be with Shri Vallabh, so the Brahmin had brought with him the Swaroop of Thakurji to hand it over to Shri Vallabh. At the same moment Shri Vallabh got the good news of arrival of his second Son. He named child Vithalnathji after the Swaroop Vithalnathji. This Swaroop was none other than Shri Vithalnathji, which had told Him (Shri Vallabh) that I will be born as your son.

SHRI MAHAPRABHUJI celebrated his birthday as Jamnashtami Mahaustav/Nandamahaustav.

Even SHRI NATHJI celebrated his birthday is as Mahaustav, and ordered is sevak to prepare Jelabis, and when asked why, SHRINATHJI told "VITHAL ALWAYS CELEBRATES MY BIRTHDAY, TODAY I WANT TO CELEBRATE HIS BIRTHDAY". And even today, this Mahaustav is also known as Jelabi ustav.

From the childhood his knowledge was so vast that it could touch the sky, and on top of it Shri Vallabh took him to Shri Goverdhan and taught him the basic Seva of Shrinathji.

At the age of eight years, vs 1580 Shri Mahaprabhuji performed Yagiopavit shanskar in Kashi. After receiving Gayatri Mantra from Shri Vallabhachariyaji.

He went to Priyag to study under the best Guru (teacher) of that period Pandit Mahdav Sarsvati. What ever he listened from Shri Sarsvatiji he knew it by heart. In one of his varta it is stated that he kept his books at Shri Sarsvatiji’s Gurukul. In the evening he learned Shri Bhagwatji from his father Shri Vallabh.

At the age of ten he wrote Brajraj Chirajeet Gosh Vara and Rajboog Ariya. When Shri Ahacharicharan Shri Vallabh heard this He blessed Him.

Sangeet Prem--- love for music was so immense that he learned it from childhood. Once he was playing 'Been' to awaken Shri Navnitpriyaji and Shri Vallabh saw it and told Him not to play 'Been'. He not only stopped playing 'Been' but never played again, reason was very simple while playing 'Been' fingers are toughen and skin becomes rough, therefore while performing Seva/touching Shrinathji, rough and tough fingers are not allowed.

Kaviya racana (poems): Knowledge of writing poems was very immense. He wrote in Sanskrit and Braj language. “Lalithadi” and “Priti” were his names on the poems.

Important event in his life time: Akbar then the ruler issued Shahi farman (ruler’s decree) stating Shri Gusainji as owners of Gopalpura (jatipura) and Gokul and also gave huge pastureland for Goucharan (cows).
