Shri Ghanshyamji

Shri Ghanshyamji's Sevya Swaroop - Shri Madanmohanji

Shri Ghanshyamji is the seventh Jewel of Shri Gusainji and second bhauji (wife) Shri Padmavatiji.

He was born in Satghra, Mathura on Saturday Margshirsh vadh 13, samv. 1628.

His uopnain was performed in Gokul in 1635.

At very young age his mother Shri Padmavati entered lila and he was brought up by his elder brother Shri Giridharji’s wife, Shri Bhaminiji.

In order not to feel sad because of his mother’s lila prevesh, Shri Gusainji wrote the tika(commentary) of Shri Madhurashtakam, a small granth written by Shri Vallabhachariya which states that Shri Nathji is so sweet, His smile, lips, face, walk, talk, everything is sweet. After reading this granth and its tika his nature changed.

He was varagiya swaroop.

He was married to Shri Krishnavati in Gokul in samv. 1641. And had three children:

  1. Shri Vrajgopalji born in samv.1659.
  2. Shri Gopendraji born on Bhadrava vadh 5, samv. 1662. &
  3. Shri Janki bethiji.

He had vast knowledge of Sanskrit and Brajbasha. He had written in Sanskrit the tika(commentary) on Shri Madhurashtakam and Gupt-ras.

When he was in seva (his saviya swaroop was Shri Madhan Mohanji) nature’s call did not trouble him.

After anushar (making Shri Thakuji sleep) he used to fan whole night with his eyes closed. One night while he was fanning Shri Thakurji, he heard some noise, thinking Shri Thakurji and Shri Swaminiji were doing lila, he did not opened his eyes. In the morning he saw Shri Thakurji and Shri Swaminiji were stolen . He could not bear the pain of separation of Shri Thakurji he hid Himself in cave and leaving Prasad and jal. Shri Gokulnathji his brother, used to come in and offered a grain of Rajbogh’s sakadhi (one grain of rice) and a drop of Ghariji’s jal. This way he lived for seven days and entered lila with his physical body in samv. 1669.
