RANA VYASA

As long as she remained in sutaka, she would daily come and humbly ask Rana Vyasa when her initiation into the devotional path would take place. When her period of sutaka expired, she bathed and awaited Rana Vyasa's arrival.

When Rana Vyasa came, she bowed before him and prayed for his grace. Rana Vyasa told her to come on the following morning. That day she experienced such pangs of separation that she did not eat or drink anything.

The following morning after she bathed in the river, Rana Vyasa approached her and gave her a silk sari and told her to bathe agajn and to wear the sari. After she bathed, Rana Vyasa, while meditating on Shri Mahaprabhuji, gave her Krishna mantra. As soon as she received the divine mantra, the transcendental senti¬ment for Shri Krishna spurged within her heart. She immediately prayed to know what services she should now perform.

Rana Vyasa gave her his dhothi and told her to wash it and to always repeat the sacred mantra twenty-four hours a day. Before leaving he instru¬cted her to come to his home later in order to take Thakurji's prasada. When she came to Rana Vyasa's house, she had the sight of his Krishna swarupa and there took her prasada. For many days she washed all of Rana Vyasa's clothes and daily took her meals there.

The reason why she washed his clothes was that when one washes the clothes of pure hearted devotees, the impurities of the heart like lust, anger, pride, jealousy become removed.

Many days later, when Shri Mahaprabhuji arrived there, Rana. Vyasa invited Shri Mahaprabhuji into his home. There he informed his beloved Guru about the Raja Putani and requested him to¬ formally initiate her. Shri Mahaprabhuji knowing her to be a divine soul gave her Brahma Samballdha.

After staying in Siddhapura for a few days, Shri Mahaprabhuji proceded to Shri Dwarka. From that time the Raja Putani used to ¬make all the cooking. Pleased, Shri Krishna began to reveal to her¬ his own sublime reality.

Bhagwat seva (worship) and remembrance takes a long time to intrigue Bhagwan's grace while through the association with accom¬plished devotees like Rana Vyasa, one quickly becomes the recipient. of Shri Krishna’s mercy.
