RANA VYASA

Shri Mahaprabhuji advised him to acquire a Deity. Rana Vyasa after purchasing one child Deity of Shri Krishna had Shri Mahaprabhuji perform His panchamrita bath. Afterwards, Shri Mahaphrabhuji told him, "You have wandered about alot; now return home and absorb yourself in on1y Thakurji’s Seva (worship)." Upon arriving home Rana Vyasa began to diligently perform his Thakurji's seva.

Jagannath Joshi heard that Rana Vyasa had become the disciple of Shri Mahaphrabhuji and anxious to meet him, Jagannath Joshi went to Godhra and there met Rana Vyasa. From that day they became: close friends and would often see each other.

Once Rana Vyasa became friendly with a local woman. SomeŽone reported to the king that Rana Vyasa was having an affair with her. The local king in turn sent his police to fetch Rana Vyasa. Jagannath Joshi coming to know of these events told Rana Vyasa and the woman to leave town.

That day, after Jagannath Joshi had finiŽshed Thakurji's morning services, the king's police arrived and asked Jagannath where Rana Vyasa was. When Jagannath Joshi asked them why they wanted Rana Vyasa, they replied that he had committed an injustice and therefore had to go before the king. Jagannath Joshi replied, "Rana Vyasa has gone somewhere. I will personally answer all the king's questions."

Where he arrived in front of the king, the latter exclaimed, "Why did you bring Jagannath Joshi? I know him very well. He is not the one who had an affair with another woman. It is Rana Vyasa. Why didn't you bring Rana Vyasa? Jagannath Joshi then explained, "Rana Vyasa has not committed any sort of injustice for I know him intimately, someone must have started a false rumor about him." The King then questioned, "How will I know what you say is true? Jagannath Joshi then replied that he would do anything in order to prove Rana Vyasa's innocence. The king then called for a rim of a wagon wheel and after heating it red hot said, "If you can hold it without burning your hands, then we will know that Rana Vyasa is innocent." Jagannath Joshi then approached the burning rim and declared, "If Rana Vyasa is guilty, let my hand be burned." As soon as he exclaimed that, the rim became cool and Jagannath Joshi picked it up and put it around his neck and stood there for twenty minutes.

Everyone then declared, "Jagannath Joshi has certainly told the truth." Jagannath Joshi then asked, "Around whose neck should I put the rim? The king then politely asked him to put it down. When the rim hit the ground, hot steam arose. Everyone amazed began to praise Jagannath Joshi. The king then honoured him saying, "I am very pleased with you. Ask of me whatever you desire." Jagannath Joshi requested, "If you know who has started the false rumor, please do not punish him. Hearing that, the delighted king praised him. "You are truly blessed. You have spared the person who has instigated this whole affair; otherwise I would have had him beaten."

After Jagannath Josi returned home, Rana Vyasa humbly prayed, "For me you have suffered greatly," Jagannath Joshi replied, "Vaishnavas should never commit low acts."
