Shri Vishnu pretending
After listening to Indra's plea, Bhagwan Shri Vishnu said Devraj! (knowlingly He pretend as if He
knows nothing about this development)
How is this Dhanav?
How he looks?
How strong is he?
How is the place where this Dusht (evil soul) is living?
Discribing Moor
Indra said Deveshwar! In olden times, in Bhramajis Vansh (generation) a Mahan Aasur
named Taalaj was born, who was furiously dangerous and his son was more furious and famous
by the name Moor. Moor was extremely ardent, a great intrepid and for Devtas he was
dreadful. He lived in famous city, named Chandravati. He defeated all Devtas and threw
them out of Swarg-lok. He crowned someone else as Swargs Indra and gave him Swargs
throne and also established new Agni, Chandrama, Surya, Vayu and Varun as Swargs Devtas. Janardhan! I am telling the truth, every person is new in Swarg-lok. Devtas have lost their identity.
War with Moor
After listening the sad tale of Indra, Bhagwan Jarnadhan became mercifully angry, taking
all Devtas along with Him, He went to Chandravati puri. Here Devtas saw the daitiyah was roaring
loudly, declaring war with them, and eventually defeating them all, the Devtas in fear
ran here and there, seeing all this fear and commotion Bhagwan Vishnu intervened and told
Moor to stop, this carnage, Listening to Bhagwan Vishnu Moor Dhanav challenged Him.
Listening to Moor's challenging word's, Banghwan said wicked dhanav (demon) see my arms
and muscles, saying so Bhagwan Vishnu started sending His divine arrows at Dhanav to
kill him. Dhanav feared and ran. Now Bhagwan Vishnu used His Sudarshan Chakra on Dhaitiyah army
and killed hundreds of millions of his strong army men. Moor in his army had many dhanav's
who had divine boons accquired by years of penance from various Vedic Gods and Goddesses.
Moor virtually had accquired an army of impossible alway victourios soldiers, no one could
defeat his army, many Dhanav commando's had accquired boons from Mahadev and ammassed
very many powerful and divine weapons, energy., they were all great in the art of Maya Yidh
Banghwan Vishnu systematically killed all of them and then Bhagwan Madhu-sudhan went to
Bhadrikashram. There was a cave named Singh-vati, which was 12 youjan in length with only
one cave entrance. He went in and pretended to be in sleep.
Meanwhile Dhanav Moor who earlier had ran from the battle ground was trying his best to
kill Bhagwan Shri Vishnu with different strategies and therefore he secretly followed Him
there. He went inside the cave where Bhagwan Vishnu was resting in absolute calmness; Moor
was surprise to see Shri Hari fearlessly clam and resting. Moor thaught it is the best time
to kill Shri Hari as he thought this Devta is giving fear to Dhanavs therefore I should
definitely kill Him.
Appearance of divine Girl
Bhagwan Shri Krishna said Yudhistar! While Moor thought of killing Bhagwan Vishnu, a girl
appeared from Bhagwan Vishnus body, which was very beautiful and attractive, and she had
abundance of power, with her absolute power she was carrying all divine weapons. She was
part of Bhagwans Tej (Tapa Light). Moor saw this girl, and felt that she is just a girl.,
and that for him to remove this obstacle before he could pounce on camly sleeping Vishnu
is very easy. So he entered into war of words and thought of fighting with her. The war
began, Girl being an able warrior and a complete manifested energy of Baghwan Shri
Vishnu Himself knew complete art of war, with her one roaring blow she grounded the Moor
Dhanav on the ground and with her fearful fire of anger Moor turned into heap of ashes.
When Moor died Bhagwan Vishnu woke up from His meditative sleep and saw Moor dead and
asked, this enemy of Mine, who was so horrible and furious who killed him?
Boon
Girl replied Swami! With, Your Prasad of blessing and energy, I killed him. Bhagwan
said Kal-yani! Your this Karma (action) has made Trilokss Munis and Devtas happy and
joyous, what ever pleases you, do ask Me and I shall grant you that as a boon. Whatever
you wish, although it may be not possible for Devtas to obtain, but I will surely grant
you and there is no doubt in it.
Named Ekadashi
This Girl was none other than Devi Ekadashi herself. She said, Prabhu! If, You are
pleased with my Karma (action) than with Your Grace I want to be Devi who is leader in
Tirth (holy place), who can destroy all the obstacle, and giver of all Siddhis
(perfection's / attainment's / accomplishment's) Riddhi's (Wealth and well-being)
and Nidhi's (valuable possessions). Janar-dhan! All, persons who have Bhakthi in You and
who will keep my Vrat on my Ekadashi (11 - Vedic tithi) day should get all the Siddhis.
Bhagwan! Those who keep Upvas, Nakt-Vrat, and Ek-Bukt- Vrat, You (Bhagwan Vishnu) should
give them Dhan (wealth), Dharma (religious righteousness), Moksha (salvation) and above
all your Bakti (Shri Hari Devotion).
Wish granted
Shri Vishnu said:- "Kal-yani! What ever you have said is being fulfilled"!
Wish granted
Bhagwan Shri Krishna continued: - Arjun! Receiving such blessing, Maha-vrata Ekadashi
was very happy and content. Both paksh (side) Ekadashis will equally do well for human
beings; therefore do not differentiate Sukla and Krishna Paksh Ekadashi. These are the
days of the waxing and waning of the Moon and that they are most dear to Me. Other days
i.e Trtiya (the third day), Astami (the eighth day), Navami (the ninth day), Caturdasi (the fourteenth day),
are also dear to me and ofcourse especially Ekadashi (the eleventh day) and this is beyound a doubt..
The merit one attains by fasting on Ekadashi is greater than that achieved by observing
any other kind of fast or by going to a place of pilgrimage, and even greater than that
achieved by giving charity to Brahmins I tell you most emphatically that this is true.
Having thus given the Devi His benediction, Purna Prushotam suddenly disappeared. From
that time onward the Ekadashi day became most meritorious and famous all over the
universe. 0 Arjun, if a person strictly observes Ekadashi, I kill all his enemies and
grant him the highest destination. Indeed, if a person observes this great Ekadashi
fast in any of the prescribed ways, I remove all obstacles to his spiritual progress and
grant him the perfection of life.
Thus, 0 son of Pratha, I have described to you the origin of Ekadashi. This one day
removes all sins eternally. Indeed, it is the most meritorious day for destroying all
kinds of sins, and it has appeared in order to benefit everyone in the universe by
bestowing all varieties of perfection.
Whoever completely fasts on Ekadashi, following the rules and regulations, will achieve
the supreme abode of Bhagwan Vishnu, who rides upon Garud. They are glorious who devote
themselves to Bhagwan Vishnu and spend all their time studying the glories of Ekadashi,
One who vows not to eat anything on Ekadashi, but to eat only on the next day achieves
the same merit as one who executes a horse sacrifice. Of this there is no doubt.
On Duvadasi, the day after Ekadashi, one should pray, Pundarikaks, Kamal-nain, now I
will eat. Please shelter me."After saying this, the wise devotee should offer some
flowers and water at Bhagwans Charan kamal and invite the Bhagwan to eat by chanting
the eight-syllable mantra Shri Krishna Sharanam Mama thrice. If the devotee wants to
gain the fruit of his fast, he should then drink water taken from the sanctified vessel
in which he offered water at Charan kamal.
A devotee of Bhagwan Vishnu, who day and night hears these all-auspicious Lilas
concerning Bhagwan from the mouth of another devotee will be elevated to the Bhagwan
Vishnus planet and reside there for ten million kalpas. And one who hears even one
sentence about the glories of Ekadashi is freed from the reactions to such sins as
killing a Brahmin. There is no doubt of this. For all eternity there will be no better
way of worshiping Bhagwan Vishnu than observing a fast on Ekadashi.
