Mrs. Joshi and her two sons
JAGANNATH AND NARAHARI JOSHI

In this account we see that because Jagannath Joshi was hum¬ble, his mind was always attached to Shri Krishna while his elder brother had the pride that he was elder and wiser. For this reason, Bhagwan did not reveal His true form to him, and appeared to his younger brother. Only when Jagannath told Narahari that he had acted wrongly did the latter reason. "My younger brother has received Bhagwan's ful1 grace." whereby his false pride became removed, and becoming humble he considered himself to be a worthless soul. Because Narahari renounced his ego hood, from that day he began to have the same transcendental experiences as Jagannath. When Vaishnavas feel that they are insignificant and consider all others to be higher than themselves, Shri Krishna becomes quickly pleased with such humble devotees and showers His cause¬less grace over them.

Once Narahari went to Gujarat and stopped at the house of one of his religious clients, Mahidhar. At that time, Narahari told Mahidhar's sister, Phulbai that only if she became the disciple of Shri Gosainji would their relationship be continued. Phulbai happily replied, "Very good. Please bring Shri Gosainji here, then I wiII become His disciple, Through your grace I will become a Vaishnava whereby my life will become fruitful." Before Narahari returned home they both requested him to quickly bring Shri Gosainji there. Returning home, Narahari wrote one letter to Shri Gosainji in which he asked Him to visit Gujarat in order to uplift the divine souls who lived there.

Some days later, when Shri Gosainji was on pilgrimage, he stopped at Jagannath's house. At that time, Narahari went to Phulbai's house and told them to celebrate Shri Gosainji's arrival. Phulbai then asked her brother Mohidhar what they should do. Mohidhar told her that they should collect their golden and other coins and offer them all to Shri Gosainji. All three of them proceeded to Jagannath Joshi's house and there invited Shri Gosainji to visit their house.

When Shri Gosainji arrived in Phulbai's town, an array of musical instruments and singing accompanied Shri Gosainji as he walked to their house. There, after bathing, Shri Gosainji gave both of them brahma sambandha. Shri Gosainji then preformed the panchamrita bath of their infant Krishna Deity which they had previously been worshipping. Mohidhar and Phulbhai then made a very generous offering at Shri Gosainji's feet. After acquainting them with Shri Mahaprabhuji's Path of Grace, Shri Gosainji headed onwards. Mohidhar and Phulbai, extremely grateful to Narahari, told him before he left, "Through your grace we have become Vaishnavas and received a new spiritual life."

Just as a wet cloth upon contact with a dry cloth makes the same wet, similary, when one associates with accomplished Vaishnavas one also becomes immersed in the nectar of devotion. Another example is that of the phulindi women found in the Shrimad Bhagavatam; through their contact with Giriraja, they developed divine sentiments for Shri Krishna.

When Narahari told his brother Jagannath that Phulbai and Mohidhar were great Vaishnavas filled with an infinite amount of devotional love, Jagannath replied, "It is not surprising for those upon whom Shri Gosainji showers His grace become great devotees."

Some days later, while Narahari was returning from his daily bath, he came to know through divine channels that Phulbai's town AIiya, had caught on fire. Narahari then thought that if Phulbai's house caught on fire then they would perhaps lose faith in their Vaishnava "dharma" reasoning that just after becoming Vaishnavas such a terrible incident has happened. Considering this Narahari put the tulsi leaves which were in his hand on to the earth and sprinkled water from his pitcher around them proclaiming that the fire in AIiya should be extinguished and that Mohidhar's house should be saved. Narahari then took some other flowers and tulsi and continued home.
