When people ask for things, it ultimately results in one type of obstruction or another. The great “Ashta Chhap” poet disciple of Shri Mahaprabhuji in this connection once sang. “Says the poet Paramananda, in asking one’s whole and soul is lost.”
Later when Shri Mahaprabhuji travelled to Soron, Krishnadas Meghan requested permission to visit his yogi guru’s hermitage in order to bring him to Shri Mahaprabhuji. Shri Mahaprabhuji simply replied that he would only find sadness in all his undertakings. When Krishnadas Meghan arrived at his guru’s hermitage, the latter immediately questioned, “Have you made another guru?” Krishnadas Meghan then replied, “You alone are my guru, it was through your direction that I have found the Purnaprusotam.” His guru then questioned, “How do you know that He is indeed the Purnaprushotam?” Krishnadas Meghan took some burning coals from the fire lying in front of his yogi guru in his bare hands and declared. “If Shri Mahaprabhuji Vallabhacharya is Purnaprushotam Himself, then my hands will not be burnt, if otherwise, then let my hands be burnt to ashes.” For a very long time he kept the coals in his hand which remained unscorched until finally his gurugrabbed his hands making him drop the burning coals on the ground which was red with live fire. Krishnadas Meghan, distressed at heart, returned to Shri Mahaprabhuji’s camp.
Because Krishnadas Meghan, did not have full faith in Shri Mahaprabhuji’s words, the gist of the Path of Grace as well as the removal of his impure speech was not achieved After he had suffered the depressing trip to his yogi guru’s hermitage his devotion to Shri Mahaprabhuji became one-pointed. Only then did Shri Mahaprabhuji’s way become established in his heart, thus making his speech completely pure.
Once, after Krishnadas Meghan had related some of his personal intimate divine experience in front of a group of Vaishanva went and complained to Shri Mahaprabhuji that Krishnadas Meghan was discussing the Shrinathji’s intimate pastimes in the presence of many people. When Shri Mahaprabhuji questioned Krishnadas Meghan about it he replied, “What did I say? Please ask the Vaishnavas who were present there.” When Shri Mahaprabhuji enquired of those Vaishnavas, they replied, “We don’t remember a single word of what he had said.” Shri Mahaprabhuji then laughed to Himself, for those hearts which are not absolutely pure are not able to hold the nectar which is contained in the pure devotee’s speech; for this reason they could not remember what Krishnadas Meghan had been discussing.
Once, krishnadas Meghan asked Shri Mahaprabhuji what the Shrinathji likes the most. Shri Mahaprabhuji replied, “The Shrinathji is fond of Goras (milk and its product) and most fond of His devotee’s love. The word Goras has a number of other indescribable implications; for example the devotional love between vaishnavas is also Goras.
